MadReal · Logic Pro MIDI-FX
MIDI Amber
Freeze the take.
Catch a live MIDI performance the moment it happens — and freeze it into a tempo-locked file you drag straight onto the track.
Audio Unit · aumi / MFXF · Universal

You hear it once.
Logic's MIDI-FX — arpeggiators, chord triggers, generative tools like Cthulhu — shape notes in real time, but that stream never lands on the track as editable MIDI. The perfect accident plays once and it's gone. MIDI Amber catches it, holds it, and hands it back as a file.
Signal flow
One insert, mid-chain
Sits in the MIDI-FX slot right after your generator. Nothing else in the chain changes.
The session
Capture, freeze, drag out

Drop MIDI Amber into the MIDI-FX slot after your generator and press the record knob.

Every note flowing through is captured in real time and drawn on the built-in piano-roll.

Pull the capture onto a track, or hit EXPORT MIDI — a tempo-locked Standard MIDI File, snapped to the bar.

From Cthulhu to a region, in one pass
Under the hood
Built like real software
A from-scratch recreation — and revival — of the discontinued AudioCR "Midi FX Freeze", rebuilt as a single Objective-C++ Audio Unit with a custom Cocoa interface, signed and shipped in a drag-install DMG under the MadReal name.
The interface
Idle, recording, captured

The outcome
A native-feeling tool, ready to sell
MIDI Amber installs like any pro plug-in and sits under MadReal in Logic's menu — a sharp little utility that fills a real gap, ready for its own product page.
